Weller Returns From AHL

DULUTH, Ga. - Defenseman Justin Weller was reassigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday from the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League by the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League. In addition, defenseman Nolan Descoteaux was released by the Gladiators.

Weller, 22, received his first AHL call-up on March 8th, and played in three games for the Pirates. In 41 games with the Gladiators this season the Daysland, Alberta native has two goals, seven assists, 34 penalty minutes, and a +2 rating. Weller was a 4th round pick of the Coyotes (#105 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Descoteaux (pronounced DAH-co-toe), 24, had one assist in nine games for the Gladiators after wrapping up his collegiate season at R.I.T.
